HISTORY

1993

Ian Buckton & Jonathan Bennett joined John in the family company.

SDE purchased their first office.

1998

SDE relocated to our Stanfree office that we remain in today.

2007

Due to the continued expansion of work, SDE invested in our 10,000 sqft warehouse in Staveley.

2012

After the opening of our Interiors side of the business, we invested in our joiners workshop where we produce trade counters, doors and furniture.

2015

We had our first employee fully qualify as a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector, expanding on our current services to be able to provide external racking inspections.

2017

Another one of our employees successfully qualified as a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector due to the continued demand for more Racking Inspections.

2020

The 3D Design team came on board producing visualisations and 3D modelling to our clients across all sectors within the company.

Our sales team expanded further encouraging recent graduates to build their career through SDE Group.

Our latest employee successfully passed his SARI qualification - providing SDE Group with three qualified SEMA Approved Racking Inspectors.

1992

Est. in 1992 by Mr John Buckton.

Storage & Display Equipment began selling and fitting pallet racking as well as display fixtures to the DIY market to one of our major clients.

1995

SDE moved offices & purchased a warehouse due to more people joining the company.

More contracts were won with and the company really began to expand.

2000 - 2003

Mr John Buckton retired and the company was taken over by Ian Buckton and Jonathan Bennett.

Larger contracts were won and the industrial side of the business really took off!

2011

SDE expanded their services when Robert Cartwright joined the company starting up the Interiors side of the business.

 

Over the next few years, the Interiors team expanded winning numerous roll out projects. 

2013

Due to the wide range of services SDE now offered, we became known as the SDE Group.

2016

Our office went through a major refurbishment, improving our working environment .

2019

Expanding on our digital technology, SDE Group invested in some of the latest technology providing digital & video content and 360° virtual tour experiences to our clients.

2021

Our 3D Design team expanded due to the increase in demand for design & visualisation projects.

Another sector within our group was formed

- SDE Electrical.

2022

With a huge focus on renewable energy, we launched a new department within the group - SDE Energy Solutions

We specialise in providing a number of services to design and deliver within industrial, commercial and retail environments - successfully delivering projects through our multidiscipline knowledge.

SEMA (Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association)

SDC (SEMA Distributor Company)

A SEMA Distributor Company qualification is necessary to allow knowledge that a company is supplying storage equipment of the highest quality and standards. SDE Group have demonstrated high levels of commitment to safety standards, work to industry codes of practice and are audited at random.

SAIC (SEMA Approved Installation Company)

The SAIC initiative is for professional storage equipment installation companies who are keen to develop safety standards and take a proactive approach to the development of this sector of the industry.

SARI (SEMA Approved Racking Inspector)

Our SEMA Approved Inspectors are highly qualified individuals who undertook extensive training to obtain their sufficient knowledge through a written examination and practical assessment. Our three qualified inspectors maintain their qualification and commit to a programme of on-going CPD (continuous professional development).

CHAS Premier Accredited Contractor

SDE Group have completed the Common Assessment Standard to achieve the CHAS (Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme) Premier standard demonstrating our compliance and commitment to risk management to both our clients and employees.

 

Being CHAS Premier Approved reduces duplication as compliance is accepted by all buyers. Before any works are carried out, SDE Group will provide full risk assessments and method statements relevant to all works we propose.

UKCA Marking

For all ‘fabricated structural steelwork’ delivered to site there is a legal requirement for it to carry the UKCA mark. This includes all mezzanine floor support steelwork, structural bolts and welding consumables. SDE and our supply partners have gained UKCA mark certification in line with the technical standard EN 1090: Execution of steel structures.

Being an accredited Safe Contractor means our procedures, policies, training and insurances have been rigorously audited and comply with legislation showing our clients and employees that we view health & safety not in isolation but as an integral part of our project delivery service.
